The Butaro Cancer Centre of Excellence (BCCOE) is a specialised cancer treatment and research facility, and is operated by Partners In Health in collaboration with the Rwanda Ministry of Health. Established in 2012, the centre provides comprehensive cancer services including diagnosis, chemotherapy, surgery, palliative care, and survivorship support, with a strong focus on making high-quality oncology care accessible in a rural setting. BCCOE also serves as a regional hub for cancer training and research, engaging in global partnerships to strengthen oncology capacity in Rwanda and across East Africa, while running community outreach and education programs to raise awareness and promote early detection.
