Mara Community Cancer Care Initiative (MCCCI)

Northern Uganda

Mara Community Cancer Care Initiative (MCCCI), formerly known as SERVE-Uganda, is a Ugandan non-profit organization founded in 2017. Initially focused on empowering vulnerable groups including girls, women, youth, persons with disabilities, the elderly, and the terminally ill through livelihood skills and support, the organization redirected its mission during the COVID-19 pandemic to focus specifically on cancer care. Now operating under the name Mara Community Cancer Care Initiative, MCCCI works across Northern Uganda to alleviate the suffering of cancer patients by offering emotional, financial, logistical, nutritional, and survivorship support; raising community awareness on cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment; partnering with local hospitals to streamline care access; training local volunteers; and conducting research to better understand regional cancer challenges
