Uganda Alliance of Patients' Organizations (UAPO)
Kampal
UAPO aims to amplify the voices of patients across Uganda, focusing on various health conditions, including cancer, tuberculosis, epilepsy, sickle cell disease, hepatitis B, mental health, malaria, and HIV/AIDS. UAPO's Cancer Survivorship Community Programs aim to address the challenges faced by cancer survivors in Uganda, such as limited access to healthcare, financial constraints, and social stigma. These programs focus on creating a supportive community, promoting healthy living, and enhancing access to care and resources. Activities include documenting cancer survivorship demographics, conducting workshops like "Look Good and Feel Better" to address appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment, and providing education on skincare, makeup, wigs, head coverings, body image, wardrobe styling, and nail care.
