Yemaachi Biotech’s African Clinical Cancer Research Network (AfriCAN)
Lagos, Nigeria
AfriCAN is a pan-African collaborative cancer research network spearheaded by Yemaachi Biotech, designed to bridge gaps in clinical cancer research capacity across the continent, including East African countries. The network unites academic institutions, hospitals, oncologists, researchers, and pharmaceutical partners to foster clinical trials, translational research, and innovation tailored to Africa’s unique genetic, environmental, and socioeconomic contexts. AfriCAN provides a platform for knowledge exchange, joint project development, and training in research methodologies, ethics, and regulatory compliance. It also facilitates access to novel cancer therapies through clinical trials, helping to address the scarcity of locally relevant data and treatment options. The network emphasizes capacity building and sustainability, aiming to transform cancer research infrastructure and accelerate the translation of discoveries into improved clinical practice across East Africa and beyond. Through its continental reach, AfriCAN is helping to position Africa as an active contributor to global oncology research.
